• ‘Study in India’ programme to attract foreign students to study in India
• Its Website will not only provide information on the latest offerings on Indian education but also facilitate admissions to the foreign students and help them make informed choices based on individual aptitudes and career goals.
• NIRF ranked and NAAC accredited institutions with a 3.26 score have been included in the programme.

• to attract foreign students in Indian higher education
• Objective:
  • To improve the soft power of India with focus on the neighbouring countries and use it as a tool in diplomacy.
  • To boost the number of inbound International students in India.
  • To double India’s market share of global education exports from less than 1 percent to 2 percent.
  • Increase in contribution of international student in the form of direct spends, indirect spends, spillover effects.
  • Improvement in overall quality of higher education.
  • Increase in global ranking of India as educational destination.
  • To reduce the export – Import imbalance in the number of International students.

• Includes schemes like fee-waiver and scholarship for meritorious foreign students
• institutes to bear the expenditure of fee waiver.
• focus is on students of 30 Asian, African, Middle East and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries
• This year, seats have been offered by 160 Institutions under the programme.
• The “Study in India Portal” will become a single window to cover all aspects relating to studying in India for foreign students.
• The Study in India programme would provide one stop solution through the creation of a centralised portal www.studyinindia.gov.in
